Hey—we’ve got an office!
We are happy to report two wonderful events: (1) the election of the first ever Green-Rainbow Party member, Luc Schuster, to the Cambridge school committee, and (2) the opening of the Mystic River Green-Rainbow Action (MRGRA) office at 186 Hampshire Street (rear) near Inman Square.
We hope that you read The Bridge regularly. Well, as regularly as you can right now. We are happy to say that when MRGRA opens its office next month in Inman Square, on the Cambridge-Somerville border, The Bridge—a project of MRGRA—will share the space. We believe that office space, along with new subscribers and advertisers will help us to publish The Bridge regularly and often.
As you may have noticed, The Bridge does not accept just any advertising. We feel comfortable taking ads from locally owned businesses and professionals because as Greens we believe that small, local economies are more sustainable and take up less room on the planet.
Although most of our writers are not affiliated with the party, one of our aims is to publish Green and Rainbow perspectives and news that the public does not find in other newspapers.
Greens or not, most of our writers are actively engaged in the events they report and comment on. We believe it is our responsibility and duty to be truthful and accurate. At the same time, we hear our oppressed neighbors and our battered mother Earth, cry out to us to take sides. And we do.
Since this is a Green-Rainbow newspaper, you might expect us to treat Luc Schuster differently from other political figures. You are right to think that. As members of a party, we expect and request a critical eye on the politics we practice.
That’s always been fine with Luc. He is not a member of the Bridge collective. He has neither the time, nor the inclination, to consult over every article that The Bridge prints.
Working on a community paper has many conspicuous and inconspicuous benefits. We want to take this opportunity to invite you to become part of the happy, growing crew of writers and photographers, editors and advertising "execs" that puts out The Bridge. There's an amazing variety of things that need to be done to save this amazing world we live in.
Join us. In Hope,
The Bridge Staff
