Come out and hear the message of Carlos Castaneda, deputy of the historic FMLN revolutionary party in El Salvador, as the party rallies to take the presidency in 2009.
Carlos Castaneda, FMLN Deputy to the National Legislative Assembly
Wednesday, March 26 at 6:00pm Chelsea Public Library (basement) 569 Broadway St, Chelsea 02150 (directions below)
Carlos Castaneda, a deputy of the FMLN leftist party (Farabundo Marti Front for National Liberation) in El Salvador's National Legislative Assembly, will be speaking in Chelsea this Wednesday. Carlos is a long-time FMLN member, and also part of the party's International Relations Committee and Narco-Traffic Committee.
He will speak on:
- the growing wave of migration out of El Salvador
- the decaying state of democracy in El Salvador
- the on-going struggle for political power, as the electoral process continues towards the 2009 presidential, municipal and legislative elections.
This is a very rare and special opportunity to witness the party that has been a driving force in the struggle for democracy and justice in El Salvador for nearly 30 years.
Translation will be available (Spanish to English).
Directions By T: Take the train to the Haymarket Station (green/orange). From there, catch the #111 bus (Woodlawn via Tobin) to Chelsea. Get off at the intersection of City Hall Ave and Broadway. (You'll see the brown brick city hall, with a big statue with a horse in front and that's when you get off). Walk to the other side of Broadway, and you'll find the public library at 569 Broadway.
