DCR gets Magazine Beach hearing put off for two weeks

by Marilyn Wellons

Monday, August 14— The State Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) has obtained a postponement of tonight's Cambridge Conservation Commission hearing on Magazine Beach. The hearing will be continued to August 28.

I received the notice at 10:30 today, the morning of the hearing.

The DCR representative designated for tonight's hearing was with me on a site visit in Boston and never mentioned the postponement.

He knew that I would be away from my desk from 9:00 AM for several hours, and said nothing to me about the postponement until I mentioned the hearing.

Kathy Podgers wonders if her article in The Bridge might have had anything to do with the postponement.

Jennifer Wright, Director of the Cambridge Conservation Commission wrote in an email dated August 14 at 10:26 AM:

Marilyn, The DCR has requested an additional continuance of 2 weeks to get answer the questions regarding Magazine Beach. Therefore, the hearing tonight will be postponed to August 28th.
