Rumors of my re-election have been greatly exaggerated

From the Cambridge City Council agenda for November 20, 2006: “Resolution on the death of Senator Jarrett Barrios, on his re-election to the Massachusetts Senate.”

Sponsored by Councilor Sullivan and the entire membership.

The Council also congratulated Warren Tolman on his re-election to the State Senate. That stupendous feat deserved recognition. It was the first recorded instance of a person being re-elected to a position whereof he or she was not the incumbent.

For it is Warren’s brother Steven Tolman who is the Senator.

Perhaps it is time for the Council to revive the old formula, “The King is dead, long live the King.”

This would answer the need for an efficient way to keep track of election results without getting into personalities.

Thanks to Roy Bercaw and Michael Brandon for finding these nuts amongst all the Fluff.
