CCTV BeLive “The Cambridge Environment” to discuss the Urban Ring Phase 2 and Grand Junction rail line and bridge.
The show’s focus on transportation and the environment moves from the Beacon freight yards in Allston, across the Charles River on the Grand Junction rail line and bridge, to Cambridge and points north.
The Grand Junction bridge is the only north-south rail connection east of Worcester. Freight and commuter rail use it now. Harvard, MIT, and Boston University want to use it for a bus highway, the Urban Ring Phase 2. Logistics expert Frank DeMasi and Marilyn Wellons consider these plans’ effect on the state’s budget, economy, and environment.
Watch CCTV Channel 9, “The Cambridge Environment” on Sunday, March 30, 2008, from 6:30 to 7:00 pm, for the discussion.
The show is rebroadcast at 1:30 am Monday, March 31, 2008.
Frank DeMasi is a member of the Metropolitan Planning Organization’s Regional Transportation Advisory Council (RTAC) and former Chair of the RTAC Freight Committee. Marilyn Wellons is co-host of ”The Cambridge Environment.”
