“We are a country full of surprises, but there are serious signs of progress around the efforts and contacts en route to the formation of a new government during the last two weeks of President Aoun’s mandate; of course, this question is subject to modification or change – depending on political circumstances – as all Lebanese, especially the political class, express fear of a long presidential vacuum,” Makary said.
The Minister of Information also expressed his “fear of the possibility of linking the presidential elections to maritime demarcation, the Vienna conference or other regional issues. We hope that the presidential election will be managed with an option one hundred percent Lebanese.
Moreover, the Minister of Information denied having knowledge of data on a probable international guardianship of the Lebanese sea.
“There are many positive signs that an agreement will soon be reached on maritime demarcation. In fact, I have not had time to meet with any of the relevant officials to discuss the matter with them, however, I plan to contact the relevant individuals, especially since it is my duty as Minister of ‘Information to be honest with the Lebanese regarding the progress of the negotiations. There is still fear regarding everything in Lebanon, but we are absolutely against any international trusteeship imposed by any side,” Makary explained.
After a meeting with the director of the “Al-Mayadeen” news channel, Ghassan Ben Jeddo, Minister Makary wanted the Lebanese media to follow the example of the “Al-Mayadeen” news channel, particularly in terms of pace of evolution and modernity. in various fields.
