A member of the Holland America team has disappeared off the coast of Alaska

A Holland America’s employee Koningsdam went missing off Juneau, Alaska late Monday night.

A statement from the cruise line read: “A team member on Koningsdam was reported missing shortly after the ship departed Juneau, Alaska after 10 p.m. on August 8.

Koningsdam and another Holland America ship that was in the area, Eurodam, immediately began a search of the area. The Coast Guard was also notified and dispatched a 45ft boat and helicopter to continue the search.

Both vessels remained in the area for several hours. On Tuesday evening, the coast guard announced that they had suspended their search for the missing 31-year-old.

NCLH Reports Second Quarter Financial Results

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings announced its financial results for the second quarter of the year, and for the first time since the start of the pandemic, the line generated positive operating cash flow.

Other highlights of the earnings call include the fact that the entire fleet has been back in service since May, with occupancy levels slowly but steadily increasing and onboard spending on things like specialty restaurants and purchases up 20%.

Like other lines, Norwegian has admitted it is struggling with supply chain issues that have driven food costs up.

Finally, with prima which is expected to enter service in the third quarter and six more vessels in preparation, the company expects a 50% growth in capacity by 2027 compared to 2019.

Carnival announces senior officers for celebration

Carnival Cruise Line has announced the senior officers of its next ship Carnival celebration.

Vincenzo Alcaras will take command of the ship as captain and, after the ship’s first week in service, will celebrate its 26th anniversary with Carnival. Fabien Gervaise, who has worked on numerous Carnival ships for 22 years with the cruise line, will serve as chief engineer. Pierre Camilleri, now in his 18th year with Carnival, will serve as Partyhotel manager.

Carnival Celebration is set to debut in Miami in November and begin a year-round travel schedule to the Caribbean.
