Eagles look to Highlands Series for turnaround

CHADRON, Neb. – March 24, 2022 – The Chadron State College softball team will look to return to the winners’ column Saturday and Sunday when they host the New Mexico Highlands for a four-game Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference series at CSC Softball Field.

The Eagles, who have been blocked in their last five appearances, and 11 of the last 12, are 4-24 overall and 3-13 in RMAC play, tying them with Adams State and Highlands for 10and in the league.

The Cowgirls, fresh off their first win in 15 tries, are 5-21 with a conference mark tied with CSC.

Four of Highlands’ five wins have come at New Mexico State, including two in Albuquerque, two at home in Las Vegas and one last weekend in Denver.

In RMAC statistical rankings, NMHU beats .255 as a team, one spot ahead of 12and-Eagles rated at .230. His team launching ERA is a 12and-seat 7.85.

Junior Nathalie Blattmann leads the Cowgirls in almost every pitching category. She sports a 4.85 ERA, a 4-8 record, 46 strikeouts and a .300 batting average. Everyone who leads his team.

Similarly, an NMHU player holds the lead in most batting stats. She is a Heaven Medina freshman, with a .361 batting average, three home runs, 15 RBIs, 14 runs scored, and a .607 average.

CSC is led by a freshman pitcher Kenzi Garner and senior Gaby Russell. Garner’s 4.80 ERA barely tops Russell’s 4.82. Russell leads the team with a .317 batting average. Garner’s 3-6 record is also the best on the team.

Second year Jessie Henchensky, at .316 is the safest hitter for the Eagles. however junior addison throws leads the RBI team at 14 and a freshman Aliyah Rothstein has a team-high 13 runs scored.

Both teams are tied for eighth in the RMAC with .943 fielding percentage.

The pair of doubleheaders is scheduled for noon on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday.
