6 Likewise, Mr. Kenneth Aklah, the Governor’s Senior Special Adviser (SSA) for Event Management, said that the fundamental objective of the festival, which was to foster peace among the communities that make up Yakurr, had been achieved.
seven Aklah noted that it was on record that throughout the tenure of the current administration in the state, there had been relative peace between the self-governing Yakurr communities.
8 He said the second objective of boosting agro-tourism has also been achieved as Yakurr maintains an enviable position as one of the state’s food baskets through its production of yam, melon, banana plantain and other crops.
9 “This administration is therefore poised to partner with voluntary cooperative societies inside and outside Yakurr in the areas of expanding farms or establishing agro-allied cottage industries for the agricultural value chain.
“I challenge the youth of Yakurr to channel their knowledge and energy into useful ventures like commercial farming, to generate income and curb youth unrest, as agriculture can no longer be left in the hands seniors.

Bassey Etim, Adviser, State and LG Affairs, MTN Nigeria, said he plans to open a mobile account for all festival attendees to enable them to send money to loved ones in the regions. moved away via their Momo agents.
