Media Personality Feels Big E’s Title Race Was Mishandled

  • Peter Rosenberg thinks the company mishandled Big E’s run with the WWE Championship
  • Big E lost cleanly to multiple opponents in non-title matches, which cheapened his reign
  • His potential as a singles star while being a member of The New Day is too great to ignore.

Big E winning the WWE Championship in September 2021 was a moment many fans wouldn’t forget, but many believe the title change could have been executed better, including Peter Rosenberg.

The on-screen personality – who usually appears on WWE programming during their pay-per-views – detailed his disappointment with how the company handled Big E’s massive moment and subsequent title reign. .

“I confessed to him [Big E], ‘I was in this awkward position when you won the title, everyone was so excited, and I didn’t like the way you got it. I didn’t think that made sense. I thought it was really rushed,” Rosenberg said on the Cast with Renee and Miesha Podcast.

“When someone wins a title, he [wrestling fans] think that’s the only thing that matters. But how they get the title, and what happens once they get the title, is more important to their long-term story.

Rosenberg isn’t one to shy away from making his thoughts public, as seen in his quarrel with artist Nicki Minaj in 2012, and her review of Big E’s title reigns has merit.

Big E dropped the WWE Championship to Brock Lesnar at the Day 1 pay-per-view last January, ending his reign at just 122 days.

During that span, Big E lost to the likes of WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, Bobby Lashley and Seth Rollins, pinning him cleanly multiple times on different occasions.

It certainly left a sour taste in the mouths of many fans who hoped the promotion of high profile wrestling would give Big E a major boost away from his association with the New Day.

Allowing Big E to become a major star on his own merit would have been a breath of fresh air since his mic work has already been proven, when he can pretty much be matched with anyone on the roster.

Nowadays, Big E has reunited with Kofi Kingston on the SmackDown brand and is currently mixing it up with Los Lotharios (Humberto & Angel) since failing to win the men’s Royal Rumble match.

Teaming up with stablemate New Day will almost certainly help him stay on WWE programming, while King of the Ring winner Xavier Woods remains sidelined with a torn plantaris.

There is hope that WWE is up to something for him in the meantime as the fans are still fully supporting him.
