The New England Patriots, driven by Tom Bradyowned the entire NFL for two full decades, going wild in six Super Bowls and numerous deep playoffs.
In fact, only one NFL team seemed to have an advantage over the GOAT. So guess who celebrated Brady’s retirement with a sneaky reminder of their brief windows of relevance amid a sea of turmoil?
Certainly not. Impossible. New York to be stubborn and drop the football equivalent of a “27 Rings!” after 10 years of living in the dumpster?
I can’t imagine that happening, that’s all. We expected better from New Yorkers.
After Brady’s Instagram statement dropped, however, there it was. NBC New York chose to proclaim Brady a loser instead of the winner he is, all because the worst wide receiver in the giants roster accidentally dribbled glue on his helmet.
Patriots QB Tom Brady was trolled by a New York news station after his retirement.
Only the man in the arena can comment on the action that happened, and heaven knows the social media team behind NBC News New York certainly qualifies. They were there in the trenches, New York ready for victory.
If Michael Strahan had tweeted this from the Good Morning America account, that’s one thing. Corn local news? Might as well be a random bodega getting their jollies.
Maybe that strike across the branch is what Brady actually deserved, though. A little humility. A reminder of how he got to where he is today and created a legacy that New Yorkers love to hate, even after defeating him twice (and once in the 2011 regular season as well) .
Brady excluded the Pats from his own statement on Tuesday and only thanked them after the fact, which is almost as bad as sending out a tweet that read “Forever a Buc and a one-time Super Bowl champion!”
Let’s be clear: the giants do it not get the last laugh here. In fact, they’re not kidding at all. It’s like a kid who went to your high school ten years ago and shows up to smoke outside during recess, and he’s like, “Lots of fun memories here, man. Do you remember Mr. Bancroft’s party? and you say “Sorry, did you go to a party at teachers lodge?”
But Brady doesn’t come out unscathed either. Remember the good times, Tommy. Don’t make us troll you like the New Yorkers did.
