Suffolk County Police have arrested a Ronkonkoma man who allegedly seriously injured an East Setauket man by stabbing him in Centereach last night.
A 49-year-old man was driving a vehicle, with three passengers, into the entrance to Shell Gas, located at 1992 Middle Country Road, as Matthew Ulloa ran west past the entrance. Ulloa yelled at the driver and continued running west on Middle Country Road. The driver then entered the gas station, pumped gas into the vehicle, then drove it back onto the roadway, also heading west.
When the vehicle approached the jogger, the driver parked and got out of his vehicle to confront Ulloa. A physical confrontation ensued and Ulloa allegedly stabbed the man eleven times with a knife outside 2410 Middle Country Road at around 8:10 p.m.
The victim was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Following an investigation by detectives from Squad Six, Ulloa, 18, of Ronkonkoma, was charged with 2nd degree assault. He is due to stand trial in Central Islip First District Court on September 2.
